Two weeks ago we introduced the SLUGs (Super Large Union Group), but this week, things get entomological as we explore the Big Union Group (BUGs). This is a second cohort of student associations that we can use to track data. And numbering in at 32 associations, this is another very manageable size.

These associations tend to have most of the trappings of a Super Large student union, but possibly with less in the way of resources, or a narrower set of functionalities.

As a benefit, these associations cast a wider geographical net than SLUGs. While there are no Atlantic SLUGs, no CEGEPs, and only 4 Prairie SLUGs, there are 3 Atlantic BUGs across two provinces. There are 8 Prairie schools. There are two CEGEPs that make the cut. Only PEI and New Brunswick are unrepresented among provinces.

Also notably, we start getting a graduate student association included, University of Toronto’s Graduate Students’ Union.
